07 Oct Is Your Child Struggling With Back To School?
School is officially back in session! While this can be an exciting time for many parents and children, you may be noticing that your child is struggling.
While having a hard time readjusting to the school schedule is normal, some children can take the change a lot harder. They may be avoiding eye contact with the teacher when they greet them in the morning or when talking to other students. Rather than playing with their peers, they may very often prefer to be alone. The teacher may begin to notice that as the classroom gets loud, they tend to cover their ears and seek comfort through repetitive behavior such as rocking. You may also begin to see that your child’s previous speech skills have started to decline.
These are all strong indicators of Autism Spectrum Disorder. As a parent, this can be alarming. You may not know exactly what Autism Spectrum is, much less how to go about getting a proper diagnosis. At ABA Services, we understand exactly how you feel and work to help you navigate through these times of unknowing. The diagnostic office can have an appointment scheduled in 1-2 weeks, instead of waiting months-that can feel like an eternity- for testing. Our testing services include reviewing existing information regarding your child, one on one interviews with parent(s), working directly with your child, along with our many other services to provide your child with the best care. Our approachable staff is here the entire process to provide not only support but recommendations for your child if diagnosed.
